Thunder players contribute at Worlds

Laura Fortino, Jocelyne Larocque, Jamie-Lee Rattray, and Erica Howe won silver medals with Team Canada at the Womens World Championship in Kamloops, British Columbia.

The Thunder quartette was part of a group of 18 CWHL players representing Canada. Team Canada only lost one game in the round robin, to Team U.S.A with a score of 3-1. Their second loss also came at the hands of the United States, this time in the Gold Medal Game in a heartbreaker that remained scoreless through regulation. Both goalies, Maschmeyer for Canada and Rigsby for the U.S. put on a show and willl be marked as a classic for years to come. Though the game didn?۪t go in Canada?۪s favour, the 1-0 loss brought them the silver medal.

Hockey Canada featured Howe in two stories over the tournament, one about her journey through hockey and her relationship with her father, and the other about growing up in a military family.
