The Markham Thunder are excited to announce their partnership with Kewl Sports as their Official Apparel Sponsor for the 2017/2018 Season. Kewl has been a previous sponsor of the Thunder for the past few seasons but have now taken it to a new level. This past spring, General Manager, Chelsea Purcell, and Kewl’s National Sales Manager, Richard Lachapelle, worked hard to maximize the potential of their partnership for the coming season. “My goal for this season is to have the ladies feel and look like a professional team. Working with Richard, he made that possible for us. They want to grow in the women’s game, so it was a perfect fit for both of us,” said Chelsea.
“We are proud to be part of the inaugural Markham CWHL season” said Kewl Sports Sales Manager, Richard Lachapelle. “Given the rich history of success of the Thunder program coupled with the tremendous growth of women’s hockey, we are thrilled to align our brand with the Thunder organization.”
The partnership included track suits, travel gear, warm-up gear and hats for the players. It also included track suits, jackets and hats for the staff. Kewl will be the title sponsor of the Thunder’s penalty kill this season along with chuck a puck, fan of the month and several more in game assets.
The Thunder’s apparel for sale at home games is also supplied and designed by Kewl Sports. “We wanted different designs and cool looks for this inaugural season and Kewl was able to deliver above expectations,” mentioned Chelsea. “We are doing speciality shirts that include a limited edition of our home opener vs Kunlun with both team rosters that are available in English or Chinese. It was a great piece to add in with the North American debut for the Chinese team and the large Chinese market in Markham.” Howe shirts will also be available as a fundraiser shirt for the Brain Tumour Fundraiser game on October 22, in honour of Erica Howe’s father.
“This was a very important partnership for us to secure because it focuses around the players. They want to feel appreciated and this partnership did just that. We are looking forward to wearing our Kewl Thunder apparel and helping them grow in the hockey community,” said Chelsea.
Be sure to get your Kewl apparel at our home games this season and wear the Thunder logo with pride!
