General Manager: Chelsea Purcell

Chelsea took over General Manger in spring 2017 and relocated the team to the City of Markham. In her first season as GM, the team won it’s first Clarkson Cup Championship. She spent the two seasons prior learning from previous GM, Lori Dupuis, as Assistant General Manager. Purcell has a Kinesiology degree with a minor in Business & Entrepreneurship and completed a post graduate course in Sport & Event Marketing at George Brown College. She went on to work with the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and Sunnybrook Foundation prior to being hired as General Manager.

Purcell played 5 years at University of Saskatchewan then continued on to play one season with the Edmonton Chimos prior to them joining the CWHL. She then played 3 years for Team Alberta/Calgary Inferno before moving out to Toronto and joining the Thunder in the business side.

Equipment Manager: Brent Graham

Brent, a long time hockey player and women’s hockey enthusiast, is back for his third season with the Thunder. Many years ago Brent was the Equipment Manager for the Brampton Thunder. During the off seasons you will find him on the golf course. A true hockey player life!

Athletic Therapist: Stephanie Loy Son

Stephanie Loy Son is a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) whom graduated from McMaster University in 2012 with a degree in Kinesiology; and furthered her education at Sheridan College with a degree in Athletic Therapy. Stephanie graduated in 2017 from Sheridan College with high honours and as 2016’s co-op student of the year for her contributions to Apple Creek Sports Medicine.
Stephanie has worked with a range of populations that include high performance athletes, industrial workers and ALS patients. She believes in a collaborative and active rehabilitation philosophy that gets people moving and empowers them through education. Along with continuing to work within the clinical environment, Stephanie also does field work where she helps keep athletes safe and healthy during practices, games and tournaments. She looks forward for a successful and healthy year with the Markham Thunder!

Communications Manager: Maria Tassone 

Maria Tassone is in her fourth season with the Thunder. She has a degree in Media Studies, and a diploma in Media Communications with a specialization in public relations. Maria currently works for a national advocacy non-profit, and previously worked for a national health charity.
