MARKHAM, ON – March 6, 2018: Laura Stacey, 2018 Olympic silver medalist, will return to play with the Markham Thunder. She will play her first games of the 2017-18 CWHL season on the road in Boston on March 10th and 11th. These are the Thunder’s final games of the regular season as they look to clinch the final playoff spot.
“I am really excited to be back playing with the Thunder! The team has been on quite the roll lately and it has been fun to watch and support from the side,” says Stacey, “But I am ready to get back on the ice with the girls and hopefully make a run for the Clarkson Cup.”
Stacey won her first Olympic medal, showing poise and speed with the puck all tournament. She had an assist, and showed her versatility playing in all situations for Canada. Stacey had a breakout season with the Thunder in 2016-17, winning Rookie of the Year and coming in second in team scoring with 24 points (11G, 13A).
