Brampton Hires New Coach

The Brampton Hockey Club has hired Rick Traugott as head coach for the 2012/2013 CWHL season.

Traugott, former head coach of the Trinity College School varsity girls and boys hockey teams in Port Hope, brings over 27 years of coaching and on-ice instruction experience to Brampton?۪s program.

???I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach in Brampton this coming season and am looking forward to working with an extremely talented group of athletes,?۝ says Traugott. ???I look for Brampton to be a high tempo, high energy, offensively driven team that will certainly challenge for a Clarkson Cup championship.

Traugott coached the TCS boys team from 1988-1990 and again from 1995-2003 before he switched over to coaching the girls team until 2010.

In 2005, Traugott founded the North American Prep Hockey Association, a female hockey league for independent schools, which the TCS varsity girls?۪ team joined.

For the past two years Traugott has worked for Hockey Canada in the national women?۪s program coaching pool as a camp coach for the 2011 under-22 development camp and 2010 under-18 selection camp.

Brampton General Manager, Jody Katz, who renewed her contract for another season, was looking for a head coach after stepping back from the duo role she served last season.

???I am so excited to have Rick leading our coaching staff this year,?۝ says Katz. ???He is a dynamic leader and technically talented coach, which fits our culture.?۝

Katz is looking to create a championship culture and build a team that has the depth and character to win the Clarkson Cup, after falling one game short last year, and feels Traugott fits the program and is committed to going above and beyond the call of duty to create this championship atmosphere.

???Rick is a tireless worker, and knows the players in the league well,?۝ adds Katz. ???I believe this is the best decision for the program, and his commitment to a professional championship atmosphere is far above average.?۝
